Introducing our solution

Our closed-loop power system for renewable electricity.

Low cost

Cheaper than diesel

Energy dense

10x more energy density than batteries

No emissions

Carbon, NOx & PM

Ready to go

Uses existing fossil fuel infrastructure

Why now

Demand is exploding for secure, low-cost energy from cities, infrastructure and industries. Existing grids are struggling to meet this escalating need. Hydrogen requires costly infrastructure to handle safely and practically.

So we've engineered a liquid electricity system to carry and discharge power. It flows through existing fossil fuel infrastructure without combustion, emissions free.

How it works

The four stages of our closed loop system

01

Charged fuel delivered on site

Charged Ternary fuel fed into stationary power converter or on machine converters.

Illustration of inside of construction machinery and how the liquid is converted in the tank.
02

Power discharged

Continuous power delivered from stationary power unit or unit on machine, producing discharged fuel as by product.

03

Discharged fuel collected

As discharged fuel is collected, charged fuel is refilled. Continuous power maintained.

04

Discharged fuel recharged

Renewable electricity converts discharged fuel back to charged fuel. This is then transported back to the customer site.

The hard questions. Answered.

What's inside the unit?

The Converter is a self-contained electrochemical power generation system, including all components ready to start solving your off-grid power problems now.

Is it safe to operate?

Ternary fuel is comprised of commodity chemicals with well-established safety data that can be used within standard regulatory frameworks. Our converter operates at safe pressure levels.

Can it scale beyond a single unit?

Multiple units can be deployed in parallel to go from 100's of kW to MW scale.

Where does the fuel come from?

Ternary can use renewable chemicals derived from non-food biomass or waste feedstock. In the closed-loop system, discharged Ternary fuel is recharged electrochemically at processing plants co-located alongside renewable energy sources.

We've Got Answers

Don't have the answer you're after?

Get in touch and we'll get back to you.

Is your system essentially a battery technology?

Our solution transfers electricity through a liquid carrier that can be charged and discharged. This combines the recharging capability of batteries with the speed of a diesel tank fill. No dangerous or difficult to handle hydrogen, no lithium.

How do you achieve zero emissions?

We never combust the liquid carrier. It carries the electrical charge which is released in an electrochemical conversion process. The system is designed as a closed loop so all by-products are contained.

Who provides the liquid carrier?

The liquid carrier is based on commodity chemicals widely used today. Ternary has developed technology to recharge this liquid carrier, creating and endless supply to keep your world running.

What power output is your solution capable of delivering?

Our system is being designed to deliver a range of power from 50kW to 100's of MW. The system is modular by design so units can be linked to provide greater scale for power hungry locations such as remote mining, port environments or large construction sites.

Which industry customers are currently interested in the solution?

Designers, builders and operators wanting to eliminate their dependence on diesel are ideally suited to using Ternary technology.

How can I provide my business data to understand the benefits for me?

You can arrange a tailored feasibility and initial cost benefit assessment with Ternary’s team. Complete the form here and we’ll arrange to discuss.

What other industries do you serve?

Ternary technology can be used anywhere energy is needed, and cannot be obtained through a direct grid connection. Take a look at our other industry pages to learn more.
